Genetics/Molecular Biology Postdoc (Ph.D.) position available immediately

postdoctoral position is available for a talented, highly motivated Ph.D. in the Genetics Department at Harvard Medical School in Boston. We are seeking a self-driven individual with expertise in molecular biology and genetics, experience with gene-based library design and construction, in vitroscreening assays and gene to function studies. The ideal candidate will have a record of scientific rigor and creativity, a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals and the ability to work in teams. Excellent time management, oral and written communication skills are required.

Required Competencies:

  • Ph.D. n Genetics, Molecular biology, or related fields
  • Proven expertise with gene-based library design and construction
  • Extensive experience in gene-based, high-throughput in vitro screens
  • Experience with E. coli and/or Pichia pastoris protein expression systems
  • Experience with peptide purification and analysis
  • Experience with statistical analysis
  • Expertise in molecular biology and genetics
  • Candidate must demonstrate outstanding personal initiative
  • Excellent teamwork, time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic and results-oriented environment
  • Ability to present data to a multidisciplinary audience in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to meet deadlines and multitask efficiently is a must

 

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Lead in the development and execution of gene-based high throughput screens
  • Work with molecular biology and bioinformatic teams to design experiments and analyze data
  • Monitor and evaluate new and emerging technologies
  • Present scientific and technical data to both internal and external colleagues in a clear and concise manner
  • Work independently and prepare timetables, deliverables, and project schedules
