Tuscaloosa Marine Shale Laboratory (TMSL): Post-Doctoral Researcher
Tuscaloosa Marine Shale Laboratory (TMSL) at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette invites applications for an immediate postdoctoral position to conduct research on a multi-disciplinary project to develop Tuscaloosa Marine Shale (TMS). The candidate will work closely with Dr. Mehdi Mokhtari, the director of TMSL, on projects related to TMS geomechanical and petrophysical properties. The successful applicant will be expected to conduct research, write reports and manuscripts, present scientific papers, and mentor students.
TMSL is a consortium of science and industry partners addressing critical questions about TMS as an emerging shale play. University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Las Alamos National Laboratory, University of Oklahoma, Missouri S&T, and the University of Southern Mississippi are members of this consortium.
A Ph.D. in petroleum engineering, mechanical engineering, rock mechanics, or related fields, strong background in theoretical, and experimental rock mechanics/petrophysics and record of publications is required. Expertise in optical techniques and digital image correlation (DIC) is desirable.
