A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Jianhua Zhang to test the hypothesis that strategies that enhance lysosomal function decrease α-synuclein fibril induced pathological α-synuclein accumulation and neurodegeneration in vivo. This requires 2 year commitment and may be extended based on where the research is at the end of the 2nd year. We use genetic, molecular, imaging and cell biological/biochemical approaches to perform mechanistic and translational studies on autophagy-lysosomal pathway and its contribution to diseases. Candidates should have a MD, MD. Ph.D. or Ph.D. degree. The ideal applicants should have demonstrated research productivity during PhD training, experience in immunohistochemistry and animal models, highly motivated, the ability to work in a team environment, strong written and communication skills.
