Summary of Job Duties:
The University of Arkansas is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team to research genomic selection approaches in rice breeding. This position is an exceptional opportunity to gain experience applying modern advanced plant breeding methods in a large public breeding program, leveraging multi-year and multi-location breeding data. The position is housed at the University of Arkansas Rice Research & Extension Center (RREC) in Stuttgart Arkansas working closely with scientists at the USDA-ARS Dale Bumpers National Rice Research Center (DB NRRC) to facilitate collaborative research that contributes to the overall missions of both centers.

Key responsibilities will include marker-assisted backcrossing to rapidly transfer disease resistance alleles into elite breeding lines, implementation and evaluation of genomic selection within the rice breeding program, curation of rice breeding trial data and management of a breeding database to facilitate efficient genomic selection, participation in drafting and submitting manuscripts based on research results to peer-reviewed scientific journals

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:Ph.D. or equivalent experience in plant breeding, plant genetics, plant pathology, or a related field, experience collecting and analyzing plant phenotype data, familiarity with genomic selection concepts and applications, expertise in statistical analyses of multi-environment trials, experience using molecular markers for marker-assisted selection, communicate effectively, skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment, a record of submitting manuscripts to peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in the R programming language, experience with bioinformatics tools for genomic analysis
