Position Description:

Harvard University's Assistive Technology Initiative has an immediate opening for an entrepreneurial research fellow to coordinate and lead a project at the intersection of wearable sensing, controls, neurophysiology, movement science, and clinical rehabilitation. The position will involve work underway at the Harvard Biodesign Lab (, Harvard Biorobotics Lab (, and major Boston-area hospitals with a focus on human sensation quantification (electrical stimulation, haptics) used to assess recovery from neurological impairments and disease progression. The research fellow will work as part of a highly multidisciplinary team with backgrounds in engineering, biomechanics, rehabilitation science, neurology, and clinical practice. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of new technology, evaluate the technology with human participants in state-of-the-art biomechanics facilities, and play a key role in setting the vision for commercial application.

Basic Qualifications:

PhD in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field

Additional Qualifications:

Experience with designing and prototyping complex electromechanical systems
Experience with programming embedded microprocessors
Experience with human-machine interface technologies and biological processes are a bonus
Excellent written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
Interest in leading, developing, and translating to commercial application clinical technologies.
