Position Summary

The BioDiscovery Institute at the University of North Texas (UNT) is seeking a postdoctoral research associate in the area of plant and/or microbial biochemistry. Exciting opportunities are available to study the structure and function of fatty acid amide hydrolases (FAAHs) in diverse plant species. New ideas will be explored to test the relationship between FAAH substrate interactions and plant-microbial communication processes. For context, please see Aziz and Chapman, 2020, Trends in Plant Sciences, 25(3):236-249.

Minimum Qualifications

Requirements include the following: 1) a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology or a related discipline; 2) demonstrated, published evidence of expertise in biochemistry and/or molecular biology.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the area of plant-microbe interactions and/or plant stress responses is preferred.

Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures and results. Experimental results should be of highest quantity for publication of research findings.

Maintain ongoing references and prepare reports of new developments in scientific literature on a regular basis. Discuss with supervisor if new developments in the field warrant change in experiment strategies.
