The Scheck Lab (https://ase.tufts.edu/chemistry/scheck ) is seeking a motivated postdoctoral research associate to carry out interdisciplinary research at the interface of chemical, molecular, cell, and cancer biology. Located in the Department of Chemistry at Tufts University, the Scheck Lab develops new chemical methodology to unravel complex post-translational modification networks within a living cell. We have developed a novel method called targeted Charging of Ubiquitin to E2, or tCUbE, which enables us to track the fate of ubiquitin from a single E2 to the subset of E3 enzymes and/or target proteins with which it interacts, all within a living mammalian cell. Our lab is seeking a highly motivated and creative postdoctoral scholar for an NIH-funded project to use tCUbE alongside standard cell & molecular biology techniques to profile E2 activity, thus revealing new E2, E3, and substrate interactions and providing a nuanced picture of the ubiquitin-proteasome system.
An ideal candidate for this position is creative, motivated, dedicated, curious, enjoys scientific discovery, and is able to work independently in a collaborative lab environment. The candidate must have strong written and oral communication skills, an ability to work effectively as a member of a team, and strong organizational and time-management skills. Expertise in molecular biology, cell biology, or chemical biology is required.
