Position Summary
The Polacheck lab is seeking postdoctoral fellows to engage in multidisciplinary research to address outstanding challenges in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic kidney disease. The position will involve working closely with clinicians at the UNC Kidney center to develop novel microfluidic and microphysiological systems to study and assay vascular endothelial cell health and function in response to circulating factors and/or exposure to patient plasma. Specific activities include the design and fabrication of novel microfluidic devices, computational image processing, and biochemistry. The position will be highly translational and include working directly with patient samples. 
Educational Requirements
Competitive applicants will have a PhD in biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related fields. Those with a PhD in the life sciences, chemistry, or materials science will also be considered. 
Qualifications and Experience
Qualified applicants will have experience with microfabrication, including photolithography and/or 3D printing. It is expected that applicants have a basic understanding of fluid mechanics and mass transport, and experience with cell culture and asceptic technique is preferred. Experience with biochemistry assays including PCR and Western Blot would be beneficial, though not necessary.
