Position Highlights The Delamere Lab in the Department of Physiology is seeking a candidate for a Postdoctoral Research Associate I/II/III (depending on experience). The successful candidate will work as part of a team that studies the role of TRPV channels, connexins and pannexins as controllers of ion transporter function in the eye. These mechanisms, which are mechanosensitive, are linked to the process of aqueous humor formation as well as ion/water homeostasis in the lens. The studies relate to glaucoma and cataract development. The lab uses a variety of approaches including cell culture, Western blot analysis, RT-PCR, calcium imaging, immunolocalization, and patch clamp.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform experiments at a post-doctoral level under the direction of supervisor.
  • Design, analyze, summarize experimental results and present findings a laboratory meetings.
  • Submit experimental results for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Present talks or posters at national or international scientific meetings.
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate student research.
  • Contribute to the organization and running of a research laboratory.
Minimum Qualifications • Ph.D. in Physiology, Biophysics, Biomedical Engineering, Cell Biology or other related field.
Preferred Qualifications *Prior research experience in two or more of the following areas: cell culture, Western blot analysis, RT-PCR calcium imaging, immunolocalization. *Peer reviewed primary author publications in the field of physiology/cell biology.
