What we want

The Keene Lab studies taste and memory in fruit flies. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will investigate the effects of Alzheimer's variants on taste function and memory in fruit flies, and perform neural imaging to examine the effects of brain function. Required Education:

  • Appropriate PhD

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience analyzing neuroimaging, developing novel behavioral assays
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • PhD in Biology, genetics, or evolution
  • Experience in Drosophila genetics, behavioral analysis and neural imaging
  • Experience with tastant related memory research

Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong organization skills

Responsibilities:

  • Research Experiments - Performing research experiments related to genetic behavioral analysis.
  • Documentation - Documenting and maintaining lab notebook and writing manuscripts. Presenting research findings.
  • Training - Training graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Lab Maintenance - Maintaining research drosophila colonies. Purchasing and maintenance of research supplies and equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.
