Position Highlights There are 1-2 postdoctoral researcher positions immediately open in Dr. Haining Zhu's lab. The research program focuses on RNA metabolism, stress granules, and protein translation in the context of neurodegenerative diseases. New directions include the role of RNA binding proteins in other human health conditions including cancer and COVID-19. The project uses protein biochemistry, cell biology and microscopic analysis, mammalian cell culture, and rodent models. Enthusiastic scientists with relevant experience are encouraged to apply. Interested candidates must have a PhD and a strong background in biochemistry.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • The candidate is expected to carry out hypothesis-driven research projects, generate and analyze data, and evaluate progress in multiple inter-related projects.  The successful candidate will engage in scientific discussion, hypothesis generation, experimental design and troubleshooting.  It is anticipated that the candidate will work independently and publish in quality academic journals.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Interested candidates must have a PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology or related areas. 
  • Successful candidates will have a demonstrated track record of project completion and relevant first author publications.
Preferred Qualifications *Previous experience in neurodegenerative diseases and/or cancer is a plus.
