The Department is committed to carrying out state-of-the-art research across a number of areas of biology and closely related areas of science and technology. Research active faculty members work with postdocs and graduate students by facilitating research projects, so they progress towards completion of their degrees and career goals. Many opportunities also exist for undergraduate research participation, for example, through senior thesis projects. With these strong student involvements, the Department’s research activities support and compliment student education and professional preparation.
Position Summary
The Department of Biological Sciences invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the field of genetics and stress biology. The research involves use of genetic tools, cellular analysis, and transcriptomic/gene expression approaches to study stress responses. Example research of interest includes use of model systems relevant to human disease states such as diabetes and ischemia. Candidates should demonstrate the potential to develop a research area, with the capacity to work with a broad range of team members including those in the field of physiology, biochemistry, and bioinformatics.
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in the field of Biology or similar field.  Previous research in the field of genetics, preference for capacity to utilize genetic model systems. Requires education and experience as an individual who recently completed their Ph.D. Evidence of research experience, exceptional presentation, communication and writing skills that leads to publications, analytical skills sets including statistics, and capacity to develop scientific figures using a variety of software programs available..
