Position Highlights The Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering department at The University of Arizona is seeking a qualified and highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate I. Under the direct supervision of Dr. Hossein Rastgoftar, the selected candidate will be working to develop mathematical foundations in the area of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). The project aims to apply principles of continuum mechanics to route UAS as coordinated flow through high-density airspace transit channels.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop a mathematical model for UAS traffic management and evaluate the proposed model by simulation and hardware based experiments.
  • Provide student mentorship.
  • Prepare annual reports on data and findings.
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer science, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in modeling, control, optimization, and formal methods.
