Position Highlights The successful candidate in this position will lead field research and extension programs on a USDA_NIFA project on soil and plant health using innovative on-farm by-product for organic agriculture producers and small-scale farmers in Arizona.

Seeking individuals who have experience and expertise working with diverse students, colleagues and constituents. This position will be located at UA campus fields in Yavapai County and Phoenix area, Arizona: https://extension.arizona.edu/yavapai-commercial-horticulture-small-acreage.

Please note this position is outdoors working in various fields.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Carried out field work layout, field sampling, data collection and entry on soil fertility, soil and plant health, plant nutrition and yield.
  • Support lab work on soil physical & chemical properties, and plant shoot biomass.
  • Data analysis using statistical package (SAS and/ R required) for below and above ground microbial activities, soil fertility and physical properties, plant nutrition and yield.
  • Write reports and publish peer review articles using the field data and reviews on related topics from the project, survey, and literature review data.
  • Coordinate all project activities (extension field days, webinar and seminars), team meetings, and making conference presentations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of microbial genomic data analytics, soil fertility and plant nutrition, field work experience, data analysis using R or SAS package, and ability to write and publish quality peer review publication in high impact journals.

Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in soil sciences, crop sciences, and agronomy with focus on soil health and plant nutrition.
  • Valid driver's licenses and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy .
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completed PhD with good data analysis and publications experience.
  • Experiences and interest in organic and regenerative agriculture.
