JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Physics at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking to fill two postdoctoral positions in Condensed Matter Physics (Experimental). The successful candidates will participate in the research program in Prof. Cui-Zu Chang’s group to study the interesting properties of the surfaces/interfaces of novel quantum materials. These projects involve the molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) growth, nanoscale device fabrication (mechanically exfoliation and layer-by-layer van der Waals assembly), and electrical transport measurements. 

The ideal candidate should have experiences with at least one of the following areas: 

  • MBE growth
  • Nanofabrication 
  • Spintronics
  • Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM)
  • Dilution fridge measurements

Requirements include a Ph.D. in Physics or related fields. Applications must be submitted electronically and include a cover letter, CV and statement of research interests. Applicants should arrange for three reference letters to be submitted to physicsapply@psu.edu indicating the appropriate job number in the subject line. These are fixed-term appointments funded for one year from the date of hire, with possibility of re-funding. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until suitable candidates are found.
