Position Title	Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry (Fall 2022)

Position Summary	The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas, invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position in Chemistry to begin in Fall 2022. Official duties and responsibilities of faculty members at the University include teaching, scholarship, service and professional activities as assigned. Full-time faculty at UIW are expected to teach four courses in the fall semester and four courses in the spring semester. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission. This position is considered a “Responsible Employee” under Title IX federal regulations and “Mandatory Reporter” under Texas state law and the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter, this position requires you as the employee to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive information about Title IX violations. These reporting responsibilities are set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.
Essential Functions	Teaching chemistry lecture and laboratory courses, consistent with the needs of the department. Participate in curriculum development upon request. Advise students and providing individual help to students during weekly office hours. Research with undergraduates is optional but encouraged. Participate in departmental activities as well as university and community service activities. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge Skills and Abilities	Effective instructional delivery; Proficient in use of instructional technology; Ability to actively engage students in the learning process; Ability to teach undergraduate chemistry courses; Knowledge regarding pedagogy and teaching techniques for first-time college students and students from under-served populations; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to conduct respectful relationships with students both in and outside the classroom. Ability to work collegially and productively within the university community. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures; Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education	Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field.
Required Work Experience	No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications	Previous teaching experience and/or postdoctoral study.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations	N/A.
Work Hours	Based on course assignment.
