Job Summary:
The University of Michigan-Dearborn Office of Student Life is seeking a personable, hard working student to serve as the Student Program Assistant (SPA) for Transfer Initiatives. As a paraprofessional member of the Student Life team, the SPA will work to enrich the transfer student experience by planning community building efforts and support the Transfer Student Association. This will be achieved through the development programming and outreach. The role will provide the SPA an opportunity to learn new skills and enhance existing ones while supporting the professional staff to enhance and develop the University’s student life.
The Transfer Programs Student Assistant will report to the Director of Student Life and the overall Student Life team, and can anticipate an average of 5-12 hours per week dedicated to key responsibilities during the fall and winter terms when class is in session, with the possibility of summer work.
Outreach – assist with tabling, emails, building relationships with students, faculty, staff and other outreach efforts as they arise.
Lead development of programs dedicated to enhancing the transfer student experience.
Provide high level support for growing visibility of the Transfer Student Association, and increasing its membership.
Support the OSL front desk, assisting all office clients, and serve as an initial contact for referral to appropriate campus resources as needed.
Triage phone calls in a professional and friendly manner
