Job Description
The Department of Biology at the University of Nevada, Reno, seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor with an expected start date of July 1, 2023. We are seeking candidates with expertise in any area of cellular and molecular neuroscience. We particularly encourage applicants using innovative molecular and cell biological and/or omics approaches in model organisms or in organoid models. Competitive startup funds are available. Our faculty are expected to develop nationally recognized, extramurally funded research programs, to train PhD students, and to participate in undergraduate teaching.
The Biology Department facilities include a Cell and Molecular Imaging Core (https://www.unr.edu/neuroscience/research/center/core-facilities/cellular-and-molecular-imaging-core ), animal research facilities, and access to university cores including genomics, proteomics, and bioinformatics. The successful candidate will recruit graduate students from multiple university-wide graduate programs including the Integrative Neuroscience PhD (https://www.unr.edu/neuroscience/graduate-program ) and the Molecular Bioscience PhD (https://www.unr.edu/molecular-biosciences ) programs.
Required Qualifications
PhD in Neuroscience, Biology, or related field; Postdoctoral Research experience.
Preferred Qualifications
A strong publication record; research experience that complements and expands the research capacity of the department; potential to develop a nationally competitive research program; potential to develop strong teaching skills.

The Department of Biology (https://www.unr.edu/biology ) has more than 900 biology majors, 350 neuroscience majors, about 80 graduate students, 28 tenure ladder faculty and 9 teaching professors. Extramural awards average ~ $7 million per year.
