Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Communications Coordinator (C2) creates presentations, briefings, and media reports, as well as assists with the coordination of campus announcements. This person conducts media research, synthesizes findings and assembles documents that prepare university leadership for speaking engagements and media interviews. Supporting the entire University Communications team in tracking projects and media relations status, in collaboration with the Media Relations Manager, is also a critical piece of this role.
This individual manages scheduling and calendaring for the Chief Communications Officer, as well as team calendars. The Coordinator develops agendas and tracks projects for University Communications and other meetings. This person manages submissions to the university calendar and curates content for targeted newsletters and reports. The coordinator tracks subscriptions and services for the University Communications team, represents University Communications on several departmental committees, assembles news clips for distribution, and prepares presentations for the University Communications team.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education (include licenses, certifications, etc.):
Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field.
Experience:
- Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience in communications, media, or related field.
OR
- 3 years of experience with an Associate Degree or relevant certification
OR
- 5 years of experience with a High School Diploma or GED.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple projects with competing priorities.
