Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
This is an off-campus position located at the Home and Garden Information Center in Ellicott City, MD.
This position will assist the State Master Gardener Coordinator with overall program organization and management, including planning and implementation of events, practices and procedures. This also includes support for 20 county/city Master Gardener programs, and the Home & Garden Information Center. Assignments will be focused on 1) managing program administrative needs, 2) compiling and sending newsletter updates and administrative communications between the State MG Office, MG Coordinators, and MG Volunteers, 3) responding to basic administrative questions from county/city Master Gardener programs, 4) assisting with planning and logistics for MG events and trainings hosted by the state office, and 5) recording program impacts by managing the Volunteer Management System and gathering data, survey responses, and project stories.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors degree.
Experience:
Two years experience in administrative staff work.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Elementary knowledge of reference and research methods and techniques used in collecting, compiling, and organizing data and information; of basic methods and techniques used in organizing and conducting studies and analyses or programs, procedures, and organizations; of basic analytical and statistical principles and techniques.
- Skill in the use of office automation software and its application; in operating manual and automated office equipment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; to present ideas and information clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; to perform mathematical computations; to present statistical material in chart and graph form.
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

- Demonstrated experience with basic applications and software required to perform the work such as MS Office, Google Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Qualtrics, Box, Canvas ELMS.
- Experience with web content management and email systems, and internet proficiency required.
- Demonstrated experience in event planning assistance.

- Some event planning is required, which includes lifting and carrying tables, chairs, and a variety of presentation tools
