The Composition Department at the College-Conservatory of Music seeks a fellow in music composition for its newly-created Charles Henry Turner Post-Doctoral Program. Named in honor of Charles Henry Turner, one of the first Black students to earn a graduate degree at the University of Cincinnati, the Charles Henry Turner Post-Doctoral Program aims to attract talented post-doctoral fellows to the University of Cincinnati who will contribute diverse perspectives, expertise, and skill sets that bolster inclusion and innovation and enhance the student experience. This program is designed to provide program participants with the opportunity to refine and enhance their personal and professional skills in preparation for a faculty career in the academy, ideally at CCM/UC.
The post-doctoral appointment is for two years beginning the date of hire. Responsibilities during this period will include:
Post-doctoral participants must have a terminal doctoral degree by the hire date and must be in residence at CCM/UC from August 15 to May 15 of each program year.
Applicants with research interests and/or teaching experiences that diversify opportunities for peer and student collaboration.
Terms of appointment: In addition to full salary of $50,000 per year, the post-doctoral fellow will also receive an additional $10,000 fund for research and professional development activities, two years of “special project” funding, at $5,000 per year for creative projects that align with UC’s ‘NEXT LIVES HERE’ strategic initiative, and benefits.
Appointment date: August 15, 2023.
Possibility of tenure-track appointment: As an extension of the Turner Post-Doctoral Program, the composition program may invite the post-doctoral fellow to apply for a tenure-track position in composition towards the end of the post-doctoral fellowship.
