Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Senior Research Scientist - Chemcial Engineering at its Detroit campus location.

As a Senior Research Scientist of Chemical Engineering at Wayne State University, the candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, provide scientific and technical assistance to complete laboratory based, animal facility based, scientific research in the field of biomaterials for medical applications. Design and perform research protocols independently. Communicate with principal investigator, Postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students on the status of research. Play the role of a co-supervisor and a collaborator in on-going projects in the lab.
Prepare and present presentations regarding research project results for professional, scientific and academic conferences. Summarize and organize data results for submittal to academic and scholarly, peer-reviewed journals. Write scientific manuscripts and other documents for publication. Fact-check, proofread, and edit research documents to ensure accuracy. Assist in writing research protocols, animal protocols, grant proposals and in manuscript preparation.
The role of lab manager. Maintain the laboratory work areas including routine maintenance of equipment, organization of research supplies and records, maintenance of cleanliness, and ensuring compliance with safety regulation, ethics and lab rules. Represent the Principal Investigator in oversight of all lab operations and personnel.
Qualifications:
PhD Required
Requires advanced knowledge predominantly intellectual in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related field.

Typical work environment may include a laboratory and/ or office environment. May require working non-standard business hours including evenings and weekends. May be required to travel to scientific conferences.
